We have not received a single penny from CNARN

June 30, 2024

During the 2024 summer BBQ in San Diego, there was a negotiation and it was agreed that CNARN will return half the funds minus $300 to cover their duplexer that Doc Joey DU1BP tried multiple times to return to Glenn Sison W6GMS but Glenn refuse to take it back.  Grupong Magellan agreed to deduct the $300 from the fund and CNARN agreed to return $4408.51 to Grupong Magellan.

During the 2024 IGEB Grand EYEBALL in Las Vegas, Emilio Sison publicly made a gesture of reconciliation and acknowledged that he intends to end the long time conflict and patch things up with Joel Pastor and Grupong Magellan.  He shook hands with Joel Pastor & Luis Dimagiba and promised to return half of the funds to Grupong Magellan.

A condolence letter was sent to Joel Pastor WJ1P by Emilio Sison on his perceived demise of the CNARN/Magellan Group. Pictures comparing actual handwriting are included in this article.

In spite of the fact that solely “CNARN” took all the funds of the group which is needed to maintain our network of repeaters, our technical team still managed to replace the repeaters and continue the operations, spending time, money, and effort, for the benefit of all users of our system; USA , Canada and the Philippines.

We, Magellan group members decided to keep quiet, waiting for an amicable resolution on the money they have taken from group funds. No actions on the part of CNARN has commenced as if they have done nothing wrong or even reached out to settle. On the contrary, they continue to spread false information regarding what transpired.

Furthermore, they are trying to smear our image and sabotage our expansion and partnership with other amateur radio organizations. These were observed by first person verifiable witnesses which will testify to its authenticity. We are writing this letter not to stoop down to the same level of negativity that they have shown but to state the facts. After all we are all licensed amateur radio operators who are supposed to promote friendship and respect one another. So let us forget about the past and move on.

This OP ED was written to state facts and evidence, not to persuade public opinion.

Magellan Group will continue to push the envelope in helping others and propagate kindness and NOT HATE. We will never look back cause progress is Grupong Magellan's advocacy.

March 29, 2020

The long standing trusted CNARN treasurer and account signatory since January 2014, Sotero "Bong" Riosa KJ6RSD was removed without his knowledge and consent in all cases from the Wells Fargo Account #148-2944392.

Immediately, Victor ‘Vic’ P. Paredes W6VPP, Emilio “Jun” Medina Sison, Jr. W6EMS and “solely CNARN” group took $9417.02 from our Wells Fargo account last March 30, 2020 which is equivalent to almost half a million in Philippine pesos. In addition, the amount taken includes a $200 donation by Clem Caponpon N6CLE for the specific purpose of purchasing equipment to enhance the repeater coverage in Las Vegas. This donation was witnessed by all members present during the CNARN/Magellan meeting last February 23, 2020. Bank financial details are always meticulous down to the cent, where deposits came from and what were paid or released.

March 16, 2020

March 16, 2020, Emilio “Jun” Sison W6EMS including 14 individuals resigned as members of CNARN/Magellan Group despite our attempt to convince him and the other CNARN members to work out the differences.

2016

In 2016 two Filipino ham radio groups CNARN and Magellan decided collectively to merge and became  what was known as CNARN/Magellan. The combined group grew from eight (8) members in 2016 to 44 paying members March 2020.

A great part of the exponential growth and innovation was driven by Magellan’s technical team. We were able to transform from the old analog echolink-based network to Yaesu C4FM digital fusion system.  With this, we were able to easily link all of our repeaters digitally and robustly. And through partnership with other hams across North America and the Philippines, we were able to expand our network beyond what we have been able to reach thereby fostering interest from old and new hams to join CNARN/Magellan.

Moreover, the new leadership was able to sustain rental payments during its tenure (all years 2017, 2018 & 2019).“Solely CNARN” was in arrears and in deficit prior to the merger (2016).
